1) How was your overall experience assisting?
It was a very good experience, support the group in their learning and holding a safe space for them. Participating in some of the exercises further enriched the experience.
2) Which part of the assisting experience felt most valuable & meaningful? Why?
3) From the perspective of an assistant & similar supporting roles you play in your life, how has ORSC shaped the way you are with your significant relationships?

3) From the perspective of an assistant & similar supporting roles you play in your life, how has ORSC shaped the way you are with your significant relationships?
Training and assisting in ORSC courses has shaped my approach to supporting roles by shifting my focus from individual needs to the health of the relationship system as a whole. I have developed a deeper understanding of my own presence and how it impacts a group. With this awareness, I recognise that in every interaction there is a third entity the “we”, and I see my role as an assistant as someone who helps hold the space for that entity to thrive.
This systemic perspective allows me to step back and observe the dynamics between myself and those I support without personal attachment or judgment. It has given me the language needed to communicate clearly during moments of tension and the ability to notice what is trying to happen in a room before it becomes a conflict. By valuing all voices as essential pieces of the system, I can offer deeper curiosity and empathy, which allows me to de-escalate situations and provide more grounded, professional support.
